(SPOILER WARNING: While I'll be pulling Hinata from a point that isn't as spoiler heavy as it could be, I'll be discussing future and past events that contain heavy spoilers for both Super Dangan Ronpa 2 and its prequel Dangan Ronpa 3: Despair Side. Please proceed with caution!
In addition to referencing some material from endgame, I'll also be including some mentions of things said in "Free Time Events". These are optional events where you can choose a character for Hinata to talk to during more peaceful times on the island. It's impossible to see them all without multiple playthroughs or utilizing the game's bonus mode, but some of them contain details that I feel are important to Hinata's character, so I'll be including them here.)
( No matter what, I'm going to keep moving forward until the very end! )

canon update masterlist
WARNING: the following post contains spoilers for the end of SDR2, all of DR3, and the existence of certain talents across the games, light novels and anime. I've removed all indication of the talents' owners, but I can't remove the fact that they exist unfortunately. Beyond this point will be spoilers for the last two chapters of Super Dangan Ronpa 2.
Hinata Hajime became a subject of human experimentation - could Hope's Peak create a person capable of holding every talent in the world? The price was Hinata's personality being ground into nothing. Kamukura Izuru took his place, a young man capable of doing anything one could imagine, but who had become so bored with everything that he lost the ability to feel... until a miracle happened that let Hinata and Kamukura exist as one person combined.
Welcome to Hinata's final canon update - post-DR3! For now his traits are only mental and not physical, as he'll be stuck in his 17 year old, pre-experimentation body if and until I give him the physical update. The experiment to create Kamukura should technically mean that he has every conceivable skill in the world, but for sanity's sake I've only included talents known in the Dangan Ronpa world (minus anything that Ori chooses to nerf - watch this space).
Hinata's observation level is also through the roof now - it's possible to hide things from him, but extremely difficult now unless he's willingly suppressing himself from noticing. Hinata's brain is very big and mine is very small, so if you could do me a huge favor and visit here (~link on the way soon~) to let me know the things that Hinata would be able to notice about your character, that would be a huge help! In the same vein, I also know that this is A Lot, so if you don't want to play with Hinata (or would still like to play with him but at least like to not deal with his Everything) please feel free to visit my opt-out page for him!

![]() ☄ First Impressions ♚ VISUAL: This is what he'll look like unless otherwise stated somewhere! Pretty average looking teen sans the ahoge, perhaps in some eyes could be considered a "boy next door" type. It should probably be noted that he stands rather tall for his age at 179 cm (or 5'11"). ♚ FASHION: Canonly we never see him in anything but his uniform, but in Yogen or any other games he'll be in the simplest clothes he can find when he's not wearing what he came in with. For memes and such, if he isn't in uniform his typical style will be simple shirts and jeans unless the situation calls for something else. ♚ DEMEANOUR: Very practical and serious-minded. Hinata can be a little too blunt or rude at times, but he will use wisdom with heavier topics. It can take a little time, but he warms up to people after a bit and will look out for them. In more relaxed and non-life-threatening situations, he'll loosen up a lot more. ♚ SOUND: Here's a clip of Hinata's introduction! In case that ever gets taken down and/or people aren't able to watch that for ever reason, Hinata is voiced by Minami Takayama. ♚ SCENT: He smells like ~Sunlight~. But no, probably... salt, with a hint of something earthy. And whatever soap happens to be on hand, though his tastes wouldn't be anything with excessive perfume. ♚ MENTAL INFORMATION: He has partial amnesia, as he can't remember what his talent is. For those that would want to try and read his mind, the circumstances surrounding this amnesia and the contents of his mind are extremely spoiler-heavy, so if you are not canon familiar please contact me before using any kind of mind reading powers on him. ♚ MAGICAL INFORMATION: None to be had, he is a powerless human teenager. ☄ OOC ♚ BACKTAGGING: Always willing to! I can be terribly slow at times (especially if it's a meme/PSL), so please give me a poke if you need me to prioritize anything. However, I will backtag things into the sun. ♚ FOURTHWALLING: For both Hinata's sake and my own, I'd prefer to keep this extremely limited! Possibly okay under certain circumstances, but talk it out with me beforehand. ♚ OFFENSIVE SUBJECTS: None! Warnings before any heavier content, such as suicide or rape, would be highly preferred, but I'm able to handle the topics on an OOC level. ♚ PHYSICAL AFFECTION: Absolutely okay on my end, and Hinata will fluster but not necessarily be opposed. (If it's someone he knows, he will fluster even more but will be even more okay with it.) He might be embarrassed and confused if you hug him, and he will definitely be embarrassed and confused if you kiss him. (and he's useless at flirting but please feel free to do it to him, he'll flail about) In terms of 18+ things - whether they be an in-game relationship or in shippy threads - I'm totally okay with it happening, but I would prefer to fade to black before they Do The Do if that's alright! (please do keep in mind that he's 16-17 at the default canon point I play him from and that I'd like to keep things age appropriate, but we can discuss as necessary) ♚ PHYSICAL VIOLENCE: I'd like to plot things out first before he, you know, dies or anything. But in general if it's physical or vocal fighting, or even killing as long as I'm given a heads up, my thoughts are always "heck yes mess him up". The things I'll say no to would be loss of limbs/damaging his eyes/any kind of egregious wounding he couldn't heal from. ♚ RELATIONSHIPS: YES PLEASE. In the case of Yogen, I'd like to give him some time and let things develop organically since his priority is kind of surviving and getting back to his friends, but I'm absolutely open to seeing how things go. For memes and PSLs, anything and everything is fair game. I play Hinata as bi with a female lean, and I'm open to trying any cross-canon ships or characters not listed here. In terms of castmates, my favorites are ordered as follows: Komaeda, Nanami, Tsumiki, Koizumi, Pekoyama, Akamatsu, Naegi, Saihara and Kuzuryuu. ♚ WARNINGS: The Dangan Ronpa series is one that is rife with a bunch of dark themes, such as violence and murder towards teenagers in the senior high school range, blood, psychological horror, torture, suicide, child abuse, self-harm, kidnapping, depression, anxiety, and other mental health issues. (I believe I've covered all of the subjects that require a warning, but please feel free to tell me if I've missed anything!) These aren't things that are likely to come up in common conversation, but I want to give people a fair warning that there's a lot of heavy things going on beyond what's on the surface. Hinata in particular doesn't experience all of these, but the ones that impact him directly would be depression and anxiety, and possibly some ptsd-related symptoms (trouble sleeping, nightmares when he does, hypervigilance, and survivor's guilt). Some of the other things may come up if he's asked about his classmates or the Killing Game they were forced to participate in, but I'm more than happy to avoid these things and work around them if you'd rather not deal with them, so don't hesitate to let me know on his opt-out post! |

Name: Hajime Hinata
Age: 16-17 in the simulation, but physically 21
Species: Human
Canon: Super Dangan Ronpa 2
Canon point: Right before Chapter 6 ends
Abilities: None
History: here!
Personality: A serious-minded and logical young man who thinks carefully about things before he does them and approaches situations practically. Hinata's the type of person that tries to rationalize things that don't make sense, and tends to worry quite a bit and can even be pessimistic. Truthfully he's a little envious of people that are more carefree.
In spite of his circumstances, he is often able to stay calm and keep a cool head. However, there are still times his worries become debilitating or even make him act impulsively. Hinata also has a tendency to bluntly speak what's on his mind; there are times he's polite, particularly with people of higher standing than him, but more often than not he is dry or sarcastic. He's still capable of using tact in sensitive situations.
Even if Hinata seems a little prickly at first, he does have a warmer side. Contrary to first impressions, Hinata can be quite kind to the people he considers friends, offering a warm smile and joking around when he lets his guard down. One of the things he is best at is offering a listening ear, and many of his friends open up to him rather easily.

CHARACTER INFORMATION
Name: Hajime Hinata
Canon: Super Dangan Ronpa 2
Canon point: After Chapter 4's prologue/the morning after Chapter 3's trial
Age: Unconfirmed in canon, but guesstimating 16 in the simulation, physically 21
History: here
Personality: Hajime Hinata is a serious-minded and logical young man, someone who thinks carefully about things before he does them and approaches situations practically. He's the type of person that tries to rationalize things that don't make sense, and is so firmly set in reality that his first reaction to being put in an incomprehensible situation is to pass out. Not only is he a realist, but Hinata tends to worry quite a bit and can even be pessimistic. While the rest of his class is initially carefree during their situation, Hinata is constantly concerned something bad will happen. Truthfully he's a little envious of the others, but he "just can't think like that."
For a habitual worrier like Hinata, both the Killing Game and his inability to remember his talent become great sources of stress, yet one of the things that stands about him is his ability to (ordinarily) face things calmly. Even during one of Kuzuryuu's Free Time Events, he remarks on Hinata's ability to keep "a cool head" throughout everything that's happened. However he does have moments of weakness, such as times of intense worry or anxiety to the point that it's disabling or makes him act impulsively. But his wells of inner strength are vast, and many times Hinata is able to bounce back just as strongly.
Hinata also has a tendency to speak what's on his mind, often to the point of being blunt or rude. There are times he's polite, particularly with people of higher standing than him (for example, using polite Japanese with teachers in Dangan Ronpa 3). But more often than not, he is frank, dry and/or sarcastic. Normally he isn't unkind about it, but mostly just has a lack of manners. He's capable of using tact if he knows that his words could cause harm, such as not bringing up Nanami's mother since it seems like it might be a sensitive subject, but his first instinct is to speak what's on his mind. Many of Hinata's more biting thoughts result from his low tolerance for things he finds nonsensical or annoying, enough that it can make him grumpy.
Even if Hinata seems a little prickly at first, he does have a warmer side. Contrary to first impressions, Hinata can be quite kind to the people he considers friends, offering a warm smile and joking around with them when he lets his guard down. One of the things he is best at is offering a listening ear, and many of his classmates open up to him rather easily. During their Free Time Events Komaeda and Kuzuryuu, respectively, suggest his forgotten talent could be Super High School Level Serenity or Super High Level Counselor. Though Hinata himself is slightly baffled by the suggestions, he definitely has a knack for both.
Still, there are times that his communication with others doesn't go smoothly. This tends to be the case when he gets flustered, and happens with girls especially. A prime example is when he's left alone in a room with the girls in their swimsuits, and his response is to immediately flee. Like most other things that bother him, Hinata tends to push the topic away or steadfastly ignore it.
While Hinata serves as a pillar of strength to others throughout much of the story, there are still cases later on that break him more than anything else prior. First learning his amnesia covered up the fact that he has no talent; then the revelation of Nanami being the traitor, swiftly followed by her execution; and finally, the discovery that their entire time on the island was a virtual reality. While the first thing feels unbearable and makes him feel weak, it's the latter two that truly shatter Hinata and make him function like a shell of himself, more emotionally detached and exhausted with every new revelation.
It's under the pressure of making a choice between staying himself or reverting to the emotionless Kamukura responsible for starting the Killing Game that Hinata finally buckles, becoming angry at the ones who brought him here - even if it was his only chance of being rescued - and rejecting any responsibility. For the first time, Hinata refuses to do anything, willing to choose a false reality instead of facing the truth.
Hinata may be capable of breaking, but the right person can put him back together. Whether the Nanami that appears is a manifestation of Hinata's mind or a lingering ghost in the machine, she remains an important person able to put him back on the right path or settle his head, just as always. While before he had raged at everything and everyone, after Nanami's appearance he becomes disgusted with the Hajime Hinata that refuses to do anything and rejects responsibility. With that, Hinata becomes who he longed to be his whole life; someone able to walk tall and proud of himself, but not because of the talent he thought he needed.
While Hinata has always held a long-standing admiration of Hope's Peak, the changed Hinata is someone who has found confidence not in talent but in himself. Accepting the weight of his sins yet still walking with his head held high, embracing something not quite despair yet not quite hope, Hinata instead chooses to believe in the future and bonds he formed. His choice is to believe in himself, determined to not forget yet not linger, to take his life into his own hands and live by his own terms. Outside of the program he is a person filled with artificial talent, but he finds much more to live for than something as empty as that.
The present Hinata still has a long way to go before he reaches that point, with many painful and difficult things still in store. He may or may not end up walking a different path than the one intended, but one thing will remain unchanged: Hajime Hinata will live on as himself.
Powers/abilities: None, just an ordinary high school boy with amnesia.

✽ What do others consider to be your character's greatest weakness?
✽ What are your character's three greatest fears?
✽ What would your character choose for a last meal?
✽ Has your character ever killed? If so, how did that affect them? If not, how would it affect them?

Questions:
✽ What does your character consider to be their top three strengths?
- I suppose you could say I've gotten good at solving murder cases... Honestly I don't even want to think about it, but I've never really been good at using my brain until now. A better thing I've noticed is that the other students seem to open up to me a lot, so I guess that counts as being a good listener. And for a third one... Probably staying focused on goals until they're done.
✽ What do others consider to be your character's greatest weakness?
- Kuzuryuu and Saionji think I'm too soft-hearted... Owari and Nidai usually say I'm weak and need to work out more... And Souda thinks I'm too serious all the time and need to relax.
...
Somehow I feel little more frustrated than I did before I answered these...
✽ What are your character's three greatest fears?
- The oldest fear I have is probably of not receiving anyone's acknowledgement, or being incapable of doing something that would make me important to someone. More recently, the biggest one has to be of losing even more of the friends I've made and not being able to save anyone from the Killing Game... Although I guess the last one probably ties into that a little, too? Sometimes, like that first night on the island, I'll get scared of what I might be capable of, and that I could be the one to hurt someone next.
✽ What would your character choose for a last meal?
- Well if it's the last one, it should be something that tastes good, right? Maybe something sweet but not overbearing, like kusamochi... Or a simple but nice home cooked meal, like curry or mackerel with rice and miso.
✽ Has your character ever killed? If so, how did that affect them? If not, how would it affect them?
- Of course I haven't! All of us have been trying so hard to keep that from happening, killing someone is the last thing I'd ever want to do... I feel like if I did, I wouldn't even be myself anymore.
✽ If your character was given one selfish wish (eg. must be applied to themselves and not affect others), what would it be?
- Honestly? To finally go home and have a damn nap.
...Sorry, sorry. I'll give you a real answer.
My wish, above anything else, is to remember what my talent is that makes me special.
Sample: this if i don't have enough time for a tdm thread

spoiler + content opt-out
Though I'm pulling Hinata from chapter four of Super Dangan Ronpa 2 and most of the major spoilers occur beyond that point, please feel free to let me know if you'd like to avoid any info (such as culprits, survivors, info that Hinata has learned about his classmates and/or Jabberwock Island, etc).
In addition to this being an opt-out post for spoilers, you can also use this post to opt out of content. The Dangan Ronpa series is filled with all kinds of dark and heavy themes, including the following: death, violence, and murder of teenagers; suicide; torture; psychological horror; and depression, anxiety, and other mental health issues. The prior warnings aren't likely to come up in casual conversation, since Hinata doesn't like bringing any of it up either, but I'd like to give players a heads-up about what kind of canon he comes from and offer a chance to avoid it if wanted or needed. Hinata himself doesn't experience all of the above, but things notable for him would be depression, anxiety, and possibly some ptsd-related symptoms (trouble sleeping, nightmares when he does, hypervigilance, and survivor's guilt).
If you need to opt-out of any of the things above, please don't hesitate to drop a comment here! Comments will be screened for privacy.

- This is a how's my driving page for Hajime Hinata of Dangan Ronpa fame. You can use this page to contact me at any time, whether it's for constructive criticism or plotting. Leave a comment and I will try my best to get right back to you. I've been playing him semi-regularly on memes, but this is my first time being in a game with Hinata in a few years and I welcome any advice!

[OOC]
Backtagging: Absolutely!
Threadhopping: Generally okay, but give me a heads-up first.
Fourthwalling: Let's talk about it first.
Offensive subjects: None, really!
[IC]
Hugging this character: He might get confused or embarrassed, but you can try?? He won't outright reject it though.
Kissing this character: He will definitely get confused or embarrassed, possibly with yelling depending on who you are/how well he knows you, so good luck.
Flirting with this character: He's useless at it but he'll be flustered if he's on the receiving end.
Fighting with this character: Please hit me up OOC-ly first, but in general heck yeah let's do it.
Injuring this character: Same as above - hit me up OOC-ly beforehand. But in general, as long as you don't take any limbs or hurt his eyes then yeah sure mess him up.
Killing this character: Most likely the answer will be yes, but let's talk and plot it out a bit first.
Using telepathy/mind reading abilities on this character: Definitely contact me first, since Hinata's got a lot going on upstairs that is both heavy on the spoiler side and in general there's a lot of mental confusion happening there. Otherwise I'm cool with it, even if Hinata definitely will not be.
Warnings: The Dangan Ronpa series is one that is rife with a bunch of dark themes, such as violence and murder towards teenagers in the senior high school range, psychological horror, suicide, depression, anxiety, and other mental health issues.
Some of the other things may come up if he's asked about his classmates or the Killing Game they were forced to participate in, but I'm more than happy to avoid these things and work around them if you'd rather not deal with them, so don't hesitate to let me know!

DATE #4 ► START
[It's with a good deal of nervousness that Hinata finds himself pacing around the playground, face red and sighing every once in a while, and that's exactly how Tsumiki will find him when she arrives. It's not because he's having war flashbacks to his first date - because this is the way to the morgue, after all - nor is it internal flailing over the... underwear she'd gifted to him during the gift exchanges.
No. It's still over something that happened five days ago, which has never really left his thoughts, but it feels more important now than ever. It's been pulled to the forefront of his mind, whether Hinata has any say in it or not.
That hug... If it's something we both wanted, then...
He's let himself get swept up in things in the days since. Focusing on the present issues at hand has always been easier for him than actually thinking about these sorts of feelings. But he doesn't really have a choice about it now.
Hinata knows that Tsumiki is someone important to him that he wants to protect. Even if he can't fix what's already happened to her, it's what he's always wanted to do as he started to really understand her. And if he reconciles that with the feeling in his chest on that day...
Even if I don't want to think about what it means, I still...
I still can't deny I want to do it again.
Thoughtlessly, words slip out. And perhaps he'll be unlucky enough for Tsumiki to hear them.]
If I ask her, then...

DATE #1 ► START
[At first, Hinata is pretty ticked off that they have to do this at all. There is some yelling involved at certain stuffed animals, along with some grumbling, and finally accepting that this is their fate and dealing with it.
And besides, it's... not all bad, is it? If it's with Komaeda, then...
He shakes that from his head now, as he's descending down the ladder. He can be flustered when he's not at risk of breaking his neck. As it is, though, he ends up grumbling a bit out loud.]
Who would ever put a morgue at the bottom of a ball pit...? Who would make people have dates here?
[Apparently chinchillas do. Or something.
But eventually, Hinata reaches the bottom and steps away from the ladder with a relieved sigh. He looks back up at where the trapdoor hangs open.
The last thing Hinata had told Komaeda was that he'd meet him here, so he probably doesn't have much longer to wait. Standing here now, though, he can feel some nervousness finally sinking into his shoulders. This is really happening, isn't it?
He never thought his first date would be like this. But... If it's with Komaeda, then...
It's fine, isn't it?
That's the thought that gets a little of the tension to seep out of his shoulders, finally, and Hinata leans back against the wall to wait.]
